Critical Priority

Issues 1-3 are creating active conversion damage right now. The subscription funnel fragmentation (Issue 1), the absence of a clear value proposition on the homepage (Issue 2), and contrast accessibility failures (Issue 3) are costing subscriptions every day the site runs unchanged.

Critical Issues

01
Subscription Funnel Fractured Into Three Competing Paths
Critical
Three separate navigation items - "Subscribe," "Digital Editions," and "Team Easyriders" - all lead to different subscription products without clear hierarchy or cross-linking. A visitor who wants to subscribe has no single authoritative answer. The most valuable conversion action on the site has no clear owner.
Recommendation
Consolidate all subscription paths under a single "Subscribe" or "Magazine" destination. Present all tiers (print, digital, Team Easyriders) on one page with a comparison table. Remove redundant nav items.
02
Homepage Has No Clear Value Proposition Above the Fold
Critical
The homepage opens with an announcement banner, then immediately shows article cards and issue teasers. There is no moment where a new visitor is told what Easyriders is, why it matters, or what they should do. The 55-year heritage and "Biker's Bible" brand story are buried mid-page with no visual hierarchy leading to it.
Recommendation
Add a full-width hero section with a single declarative headline, a one-sentence description, and two CTAs: Subscribe + Browse Archive. This should be the first thing every visitor sees.
03
Color Contrast Failures Across Key UI Elements
Critical
The announcement header uses orange text on an orange background. Several secondary text elements fall below WCAG AA contrast ratios. The mobile navigation has white text on light-gray backgrounds in some states. These are both accessibility violations and brand credibility issues.
Recommendation
Audit all text/background color pairs against WCAG AA minimums (4.5:1 for body, 3:1 for large text). Immediate fix for the announcement bar: use #0D0D0D background with orange or white text.

High Severity Issues

04
No Mobile Navigation Strategy
High
The 11-item primary nav collapses into a hamburger menu on mobile with no hierarchy or nesting. Given that motorcycle culture is a highly mobile-first audience (phones at rallies, on the road), this is a significant UX gap. The most common path for a mobile visitor (subscribe or browse) is no faster than any other path.
Recommendation
Redesign mobile nav with 5 primary items max. Promote Subscribe and Archive as persistent CTAs accessible without opening the menu. Consider a bottom nav bar for mobile.
05
Archive - The Strongest Asset - Has Minimal Homepage Presence
High
"Over 55 years of archive" is mentioned in copy but not featured as a primary value driver. The archive is Easyriders' single most defensible competitive advantage - no competitor can replicate 600 issues of authentic moto culture. It should be a hero feature, not a footnote.
Recommendation
Create a dedicated archive hero section on the homepage. Show actual magazine cover thumbnails from each decade. Use copy like "Browse All 600 Issues" with a visual timeline.
06
WordPress/WooCommerce Technical Debt Visible in UX
High
The site shows clear signs of default WooCommerce product templates, unoptimized image handling, and inconsistent page layouts across sections that appear to use different themes or plugins. The shop pages have a noticeably different visual language from the editorial sections.
Recommendation
Establish a consistent design token system and enforce it across all page templates. Custom WooCommerce templates should match the editorial look. Consider headless CMS if WordPress constraints are too severe.
07
Newsletter and Subscription Funnels Compete Without Segmentation
High
The newsletter signup and the paid subscription CTA appear in close proximity without differentiation. A visitor who signs up for the newsletter may believe they have "subscribed" to the magazine. This creates false attribution in email metrics and likely suppresses paid conversion rates.
Recommendation
Visually and contextually separate newsletter capture from paid subscription. Use newsletter as a nurture tool for non-subscribers with clear "Upgrade to full access" flows in email sequences.

Medium Severity Issues

08
Social Proof is Absent at Conversion Points
Medium
Subscription pages have no subscriber count, testimonials, or press recognition. A brand with 55 years of cultural authority should have compelling social proof everywhere there is a buy decision. "Biker's Bible" is a self-label; third-party validation converts better.
Recommendation
Add subscriber count badge (e.g. "Join 50,000+ Riders"), reader testimonials, and notable mentions near all subscribe CTAs. Feature recognizable rider names who endorse the magazine.
09
No Structured Data / SEO Schema on Issue and Article Pages
Medium
Article pages lack structured data (Article, BreadcrumbList, Organization schema). Product pages lack Product schema. This means Google cannot generate rich results in search. For a publication with 55 years of indexable content, this is significant lost organic opportunity.
Recommendation
Implement JSON-LD structured data on all article pages, issue pages, and site-wide Organization schema. Test with Google's Rich Results Test before and after deployment.

Fix-Immediately Table

These items can be addressed without a full redesign and should be corrected in the current site while redesign work is in progress.
